We are a small bee-focused honey company located in the rich farming community of midcoast Maine. We have a symbiotic relationship with our bees; they pollinate our crops and fruit trees and provide us honey and honeycomb, and we work all year long to keep them safe and healthy.
Our Bees and our Apiary Management Practices
Since 2019, starting with two over-wintered Buckfast colonies, our bees have blended their genetics with local feral bees to produce a winter hardy and honey producing mix of genetics. We raise our own queens to help make a population of bees well adapted to our micro climate.
We help keep our bees healthy by providing access to high quality organic wildflower forage without chemical pesticides. We use only organic treatments for varroa destructor mites, and we inspect our hives regularly to ensure they stay healthy and well.

Honey and Honeycomb
Our bees produce wildflower honey from the many nectar sources available throughout the year. We are able to harvest honey usually two times per year, in early July and in mid September.
Early summer honey is lighter in color and flavor. Blossoms producing nectar include dandelions, clover, blackberries, raspberries or brambles, and many fruiting trees including apple, pear, plum, and cherry. The honey is mild in flavor, with floral or fruity notes.
Late summer honey is darker and more floral in flavor. Flower blossoms producing nectar include clover, hawkweed, and native perennials like elderberry, joe pye weed, summersweet, and goldenrod. The honey may have an herbal scent and be more tangy on the palate, or it may have more of a caramel flavor with vanilla notes.
