Renovation of our farmhouse began fall 2012 and is ongoing. We moved to the farm full-time in fall 2013. Some of the rooms have been finished, while others have received temporary, cosmetic updates (the kitchen) that make for more comfortable living as priorities and budget allow. Farm infrastructure is another area we continue to focus on, for maintenance and animal housing, again, priorities and budget allowing. As such, we do the work ourselves and we reuse and repurpose as much existing material as possible. We painted the house ourselves fall of 2013, and gutted and renovated the old chicken coop interior fall 2014 and the exterior summer 2015. In the winter of 2018, we began removing the 1975 ceiling in the living room and finished this project winter 2020. We demolished the deteriorating tractor shed summer 2019 and had a pre-built storage and duck coop shed put in its place. We finished the interior and exterior summer/fall 2020. This gallery shows the renovation work and the finished space side by side.
